FHS Law Firm was one of the firms who filed a plea against the Indian dark comedy series, “Hasmukh,” which premiered on Netflix on April 17, 2020. The show made defamatory and slanderous comments against lawyers in one of its episodes which the legal community did not find humorous.
Atty. Salah Salem and Atty. Vidur Dhawan, two of our leading lawyers, were interviewed by The Cyber Blog India and Campaign India for their articles about the said issue. They shared their legal insights about slander, defamation, and what separates them from freedom of speech. In addition, humiliating individuals in a global platform and hiding it in the pretext of comedy and freedom of speech is unfair, they said.
“Freedom of speech giving freedom to abuse the source of bread and butter of millions is not a freedom but a curse if not acted upon,” Dhawan and Salem explained.
