One of our lawyers, Vidur Dhawan, shared his legal expertise in UAE Child Rights Law in a 2019 article of The National, a news publication in Abu Dhabi. The article follows the issue about parents who leave their children inside their cars unattended, putting their innocent lives in danger.

Dhawan mentioned that individuals who are caught leaving their children inside their locked cars unattended can face a 10-year-prison sentence and a Dh1 million fine. Such actions have lead to two unfortunate isolated cases in the past years.

In addition Sharjah Civil Defence Director disclosed that his department receives at least two cases of children locked in unsupervised cars every week.
